MIIT closed the first-stage TD-LTE test and small-scale outfield test recently, in which China Mobile and the equipment providers as well as the terminal manufacturers achieved satisfactory desired effects. According to the plan, the second-stage TD-LTE outfield test will be given in the fourth quarter which will last till 2011.
   
Different than the development of TD-SCDMA industrial chain, that of TDD LTE has attracted many major foreign equipment providers and terminal manufacturers, and many manufacturers, including Ericsson, NSN, Motorola, all provided their TD-LTE products to the world first TD-LTE trial network in Shanghai EXPO Park. The above companies, having reached strong agreements with China Mobile, will not be satisfied with TDD LTE applications in Mainland China, and will definitely promote the internationalization of TDD LTE for higher profit as they have invested many human, material and financial resources in the R&D of TDD LTE platform. In addition, as the important chip manufacturer, Qualcomm, possessing many patents on TDD LTE chips and developing an entire set of terminal solutions, funded 1 billion US dollars in the Indian bid for BWA spectrum within 2.3GHz band getting the operation licenses in Mumbai and three other cities, and will cooperate with the operators to construct TD-LTE networks. Qualcomm, having won the bid, took the lead to cooperate with the operators and played a cardiac role to accelerate the internationalization of TD-LTE.

Presently, many international mobile communication operators have begun to layout LTE networks, and over a hundred operators at least are concerned about the performance and results of TD-LTE outfield tests, especially some WiMAX operators are also considering turn to TD-LTE networks. With the maturity of TD-LTE technologies, improvement of its industrial chain and the acceleration of internationalization, it is believed that more and more operators, manufacturers, chip providers will join TD-LTE camp, propelling TD-LTE industry from testing stage to actual deployment and commercialization.
