Commercialization of LTE in 2012 is approaching very soon. Compared with the current 3G and other enhanced technologies, what changes can LTE eventually bring to our life? Dr. Yang Jin from Motorola thinks that the expansion of new communication service is closely related to LTE maturity and development, which will engine the booming of telecommunication business. LTE will support more new services which in turn make LTE more mature and accelerate its development. All end users will enjoy a fresh experience, for example hi-fi VoIP service, audio/video teleconference or hand-set based Instant Messaging and email services just like what you can do with a PC. Besides traditional communication service, Motorola predicts that LTE can also be widely used in multi-media business. The followings are the features of multi-media in LTE era:
Broadband on hand: Users are able to acquire personal information wherever they are. All entertainment data will be stored in a digital content database. It can be a personal video recorder or a multi-media server. Once new items are added to this database, the content index on all terminals will be automatically updated to support ¡°save and forward¡± function.
Entertainment in pocket: Entertainment is not limited to personal digital information only. Mobile television, live video, ultra high speed internet connection, and DVB-H can all be put into your pocket. Users, whenever they have a time, can watch their favorite TV programs, browse friends¡¯ video blogs, challenge online game masters, or enjoy a newly released film.
From a consumer to a producer: Social network users and bloggers can easily record and share their experiences by using of video-recording and uploading function of high resolution mobile handset. The terminal will constantly upload all photos and video clips to the digital information database (online storage space or PVR) or Flickr™ online photo albums which are shared among relatives and friends.
