The first council meeting of FuTURE MOBILE COMMUNICATION FORUM was held in Beijing Xiyuan Hotel on March 24, 2006. Academician Wu Hequan, Chairman of the Forum, hosted the meeting.
Entrusted by the council, Professor You Xiaohu, the vice chairman of the Forum, delivered a summary report on the work that FuTURE FORUM had done in 2005, a plan report on the work of FuTURE FORUM in 2006, a financial report for 2005, as well as a financial budget report for 2006. Professor Zhang Ping, the vice chairman of the Forum delivered a report on the work plan for the Working Groups in 2006. During the meeting, the council discussed the issues concerning the name list of the Forum Advisory Committee, the duties and responsibilities of the Chairman and the vice Chairmen of the Forum, and so on. All members of the council had an earnest and heated discussion on the topics mentioned above. Having made a detailed analysis and study on how to develop the follow-up work of the Forum, the council put forward very constructive comments and suggestions.
Academician Wu Hequan, Chairman of the Forum, expressed his appreciation to council members for their great contributions to the foundation of the Forum and to other organizations for the great effort and strong support that they had offered to the construction of the Forum. Coucil members all spoke highly of the excellent work done by the Forum in 2005, and put higher requirements on the plan and advancement of the work for 2006.
FuTURE MOBILE COMMUNICATION FORUM endeavors to create an open international communication platform for the organizations devoted to promote the development of future mobile communication technologies, such as operators, manufacturers and research institutes. The Forum intended to extend its international influence by establishing close cooperative relationships with some equivalent international B3G organizations, tracking the international development trend, and bringing in advanced technologies and ideas, in order to fully employ mutual advantages, lower the costs and risks, thus shaping the beautiful future of mobile communications.
