The 3rd
Cross-Forum Meeting Held in Shanghai
The 3rd Cross-Forum Meeting among FuTURE
MOBILE COMMUNICATION FORUM, mITF (Japan), NGMC (Korea)
and WWRF (Europe), was held in Shanghai Regent Hotel on
April 25, 2006. The meeting was attended by top leaders,
experts, and scholars from the four parties. The main
topics of the meeting were about the issues related to
the service, the system requirements and the frequency
of ITU WRC-07 WP8F. The experts and scholars from each
forum introduced their preparations for the meeting, outlined
the latest research achievements related to above subjects,
and proposed the follow-up working plans.
At first, as the representative from FuTURE
MOBILE COMMUNICATION FORUM, Mr. Wang Jian, the chairman
of the 3rd working group, introduced the work done by
the Mobile Radio Spectrum and Propagation group and the
working objectives for this year which was mainly focused
on the preparative research on the frequency problems
that will be discussed on WRC-07 Conference held in 2007.
He also specified the latest progress in the research
achieved by the working group in phrase one. He described
the demands on the frequency for Chinese B3G business
and actual application of the frequency. Based on the
information above, he presented a detailed analysis on
the application of all B3G candidate spectrums, the availability
of these and the underlying problems.
Then Professor Ji Yang, the chairman of
the 2nd working group, who made a speech titled with ¡°B3G
service, application and system requirements¡±, in which
the results achieved by the 1st and 2nd working groups
during the phase one were introduced. In the speech, he
comprehensively demonstrated the research framework and
achievements of B3G service, application and system requirements
from various aspects such as B3G vision, reference model,
user requirements, classified applications, business capabilities,
terminal system requirements, and network access requirements,
and consequently proposed the principal research scope
in the future.
The representatives of mITF from Japan introduced
Japanese preparation for ITU-R SG8 (WRC-07) Conference
held in 2007 and their organizational reconstruction of
Japanese Association of Radio Industries and Businesses
(Abbreviated as ¡°ARIB¡±).
The experts, representatives of NGMC from
Korea, introduced the reconstruction of each working group
under the direction of Market Business Working Commission,
introduced the specific research scope of each working
group, and Korean preparation for the 19th conference
of ITU WP8F. In addition, experts from the System Demands
Ad-Hoc working group of NGMC introduced the research scope
and the specific research plan of Ad-Hoc working group,
and illustrated the achievements of B3G system demands
from various aspects, such as the concept model, frequency
demand, general demands, system special demands and etc..
Mikko A. Uusitalo, Chairman of WWRF, introduced
the progress of the research on the B3G system concepts
and demands made by WWRF. The experts from WWRF also reported
on their preparation for the WRC-07 Conference held in
2007. The workshop also offered the experts the opportinities
to discuss the details of pre-conference preparation about
spectrum for ITU-R SG8(WRC-07) conference held in 2007.
The experts and representatives fully exchanged
their opinions on the preparation and article submission
for the ITU WRC-07 WP8F, discussed the practical ways
for cooperation and communication and determined the exact
time and main subject for the next Cross-Forum Meeting.
Praised by all the four parties for its targeted communication
and productive working methods, the Cross-Forum Meeting
reached a successful conclusion.
