The First Working Group Meeting of FuTURE FORUM
The first working group meeting of FuTURE FORUM was held in Beijing Xiyuan Hotel from May 22 to 23 of 2008.
Through a dozen of working group meetings, the technical white paper was finalized with the effort made by all the members, which laid a sound foundation for the work to be done in the future.
On the four working group meetings held in 2007, the working groups framed the working plan with specific emphases assigned to different members. On this meeting, the members began to input articles that they are interested in according to the working plan made at the end of last year.
The working groups discussed some hot technologies such as MIMO, Relay and IDPC, proposing novel design concept and exchanging on the feasibility and complexity. As for the network architecture, Heterogeneous Networks Convergence is still a major issue to be concerned about while the newly emerged ultra-small mobile base station and body area networks also drew a lot of interest from the members. In relation to the spectrum research, the undefined new bands such as those around 2.3GHz and 2.5GHz will be mainly discussed while certain valuable conclusions in actual measurements are also expected from the members. The operator members actively participated in the discussion on user requirement and service applications, and had a heated discussion on the RIA prospect presented made by the expect invited by China Unicome from Sino Digital Communication Co.,LTD..
Positively responded by the members, IPR special working group, founded in 2008, had its first working group meeting this time, on which the members had a discussion on the research content, working manners and future orientation of the working group. Mr. Guo Zhenpeng, vice chairman of IPR group, introduced the latest progresses and great events related to international IPR issues, and Mr. Jia Wuzhi, chairman of the group explained some IPR-related legal concepts on the meeting.
Since the disastrous earthquake struck Wenchuan County of Sichuan Province on May 12, FuTURE FORUM Secretariat has called on the beneficence united for the victims. The beneficent proposal advocated by FuTURE FORUM was responded by all aspects. Chairman Wu Hequan, Secretary-General Prof. You Xiaohu, Vice Secretary-General Prof. Fu Jun and the staff of the secretariat all made endowments. In addition, the secretariat set up the donation box on the working group meeting and the donators included Mr. Soo-chang Kim (ETRI), Mr. Xia Minghua (ETRI), Ms. Huang Yuhong (The Research Institution of China Mobile), Mr. Wang Jun (The Research Institution of China Mobile), Mr. Xu Xiaodong (The Research Institution of China Mobile), Mr. Zhou Qi (The Research Institution of China Mobile), Mr. Zhang Peng (ZTE), Ms. Guan Hao (NSN,) Mr. Ma Ni (NXP), Mr. Xu Youyun (Shanghai Jiaotong University), Mr. Li Xiaoqiang (Samsung), Mr. Wu Qi (Samsung), Mr. Zheng Xufeng (Samsung), and Mr. Liang Zongchuang (Samsung). The secretariat will transfer the money to China Red Cross Society hoping to contribute to reconstruction of the earthquake-stricken areas.
